Four local artists have joined brushes on a single canvas to help promote an upcoming festival in downtown Modesto.

ARTISTS SHARE CANVAS TO PROMOTE ART FEST

Their abstract oil painting will be auctioned off at the Downtown Modesto Art and Wine Festival, set for Aug. 20 on J street between 10th and 11th streets and at Tenth Street Plaza.

To create the festival's promotional painting, the four artists -- Lisa Sanders, Nancy Bassitt, Nicole Slater and Judith Cochran -- each selected a number and color. In numerical order, they then took turns painting the canvas for about a minute apiece until it was deemed finished by the group an hour later.
